Does anyone have a more recent update on the Red Electric Trail project intended to connect the South Waterfront to Beaverton-Hillsdale?
Found this: https://www.portland.gov/transportation/policy-and-planning/news/2019/11/25/red-electric-bridge-schedule-update
It says Summer 2020 for new construction bids going out, but it’s already Summer 2020 so I’d be interested in an update if anyone has one!
I think it was delayed earlier this year due to a budget. I think SWTrails Portland mentioned that in the Southwest Connection newspaper (Portland Tribune).
Thanks, @rick. That’s all the information I can dig up as well. Fingers crossed the project is going out for bids again. This would be a fantastic addition to bicycle network! I’ve emailed PBOT so I’ll let you know if I hear anything…
P.S. This is what the trail route would look like if anyone is unfamiliar and interested. Apologies for not including this detail in the earlier post: Red Electric | SWTrails PDX
Follow SW Trails on FB or Twitter or join our email list for updates on the project
This is what I’ve learned from emailing the project manager at PBOT:
“We are very close to rebidding the project! It’s been a long time coming, so I’m excited to see the project moving forward. If all goes according to plan, we will start construction in the spring of 2021 and complete the project early in 2022.”
Fingers crossed for some new bike routes!
