If you haven’t noticed, they’re starting to put more and more “cross walk closed” signs near ODOT easements in downtown severely impacted by vagrancy.
Those places were not crossing in the first place and the only people who cross there are vagrants. I’m guessing there’s been too many few vehicle vs jaywalking vagrant related collisions.
Those seem like an incredible waste of money in almost all cases. So many are broken already. They also often obstruct bus stops and normal sidewalk use. I’ve seen many in places where I doubt hardly anyone ever crossed anyway. The rest are almost all in places where anyone crossing already knew they weren’t proper crossings, or places where ODOT should have been creating proper, marked crossings. They’re mostly expensive roadside clutter.
