Celebrate the small victories: Vista at Burnside signal

When the signal sequence was changed at the W. Burnside at Vista/23rd, the detection loop at the bottom of Vista (northbound) stopped sensing bikes. If a car wasn’t also over the loop, the light would not go green. After some dead ends, my complaints to PBOT finally reached the right team. They tweaked the sensor and added temporary bicycle markings. Permanent markings are coming. Hooray!

This is great! I would love to hear more advocacy success stories. Also, please share who the right team is at PBOT for fixing bike loop detectors!

I reported it to pdxreporter.org (‘other’ category) and got a note back that the issue was sent to maintenance. In the future I’ll start with maintenance: PDXroads@portlandoregon.gov 503-823-1700
